Vasectomy

Alberta Health Care does cover the cost of the vasectomy operation but there are certain services that Alberta Health does not insure. At our facility we recognize the value of your time and do our utmost to see that your follow-up care does not inconvenience you unnecessarily or make you miss time from work.

We charge an all inclusive fee that covers telephone prescriptions, if necessary, arranging laboratory testing, phoning you with your laboratory results, patient counselling, email and long-distance telephone support, as well as numerous enhanced services such as your dressings, antibiotic ointment and other items.

The uninsured services portion of the procedure is $250.00. This is payable by cash or debit only at the time of your visit. We are unfortunately no longer in a position to be able to accept cheques.

This fee is optional, and we will not charge you for these uninsured services if you feel that you require them, but are not in a position to pay. Our highest goal is ensure that you feel well cared for and that you have the highest quality procedure and experience possible.

Direct Costs of Surgical Procedures

No fees are charged for surgical procedures. Unless there is no Alberta Health Coverage, the direct insured costs are recovered from Alberta Health. The direct costs of surgery that are not insured, however, are charged on a costs recovery basis. These costs vary from situation to situation and the details of costs are discussed ahead of time. Receipts are provided for submission to insurance plans and health spending accounts.

If, for some reason, you are unable to afford the direct uninsured costs associated with your surgery, our office will assist you.

Our goal to to maintain a fully open and transparent process for charging any uninsured costs. Our highest goal is to take care of our patients first, and this approach has served us and our patients very well for over 12 years and counting!
